The present invention relates to the field of communication information technology, in particular to a remote communication detection system and detection method for an online monitoring platform. The system comprises a host communication module and a base station communication module, wherein the host communication module is disposed on a host of an online monitoring platform, and comprises a first host communication unit and a second host communication unit; the base station communication module is disposed on a host of a monitoring base station, and comprises a first base station communication unit and a second base station communication unit; the first host communication unit is in communication connection with the second host communication unit; the first base station communication unit is in communication connection with the second base station communication unit; the first host communication unit is in communication connection with the first base station communication unit; and the second host communication unit is in communication connection with the second base station communication unit. The present invention performs mutual detection by means of establishing a self-test circuit and a standby circuit, determines the position where a fault occurs by means of mutual exclusion, and prepares to display the condition of a fault, so as to facilitate quick maintenance.
