The IFHS 10 has an automated activation system 38 configured to activate and deactivate the facility 16, communication systems for communicating between components, and a hire management / control unit 36 provisioning facilities for hire requests from hirers. The IFHS 10 has the ability to selectively enable and disable facilities 16 (e.g. tennis nets/tennis courts) based on the presence of a valid reservation/booking. The IFHS 10 includes multiple components dispersed across different geographical areas, including backend components 14 and local components at each managed facility 16.
