摘要

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a glass composition suitable for production of a cotton-like glass fiber by centrifugal separation. The problem can be solved by a glass composition containing, as components, 45-65 wt% of SiO2, 5-20 wt% of Al2O3, 5-18 wt% of B2O3, 1-7 wt% of R2O, 5-23 wt% of RO, and less than 1 wt% of inevitable impurities, wherein: the R2O is at least one selected from Li2O, Na2O, and K2O; the RO is at least one selected from CaO, MgO, BaO, ZnO, and SrO; and the temperature of the glass composition at which the viscosity thereof becomes 1000 poise is 1150°C or lower, and the liquidus temperature of the glass composition is lower than said temperature at which 1000 poise is obtained, by at least 100°C.
