This study focused on the measurement of the volume fraction of fibers in natural fiber reinforced composites. First, the volume fraction of fibers were measured by conventional method, and the problems to evaluate the fiber content by these methods were discussed. Then, the new measuring method was proposed for measuring the fiber content in natural fiber reinforced composites by applying the image analyzing system. In proposed method the cross-section of natural fiber composite was captured by digital camera and the pixels of reinforcing fibers were counted by introducing the image analysis software.
