The invention now provides a lithium battery sandwich composite positive electrode material, comprising positive electrode material particle, the positive electrode material particle is central core, and the center core has three layers of coatings, from the inside to the outside: an inner aluminum oxide layer, a zinc oxide layer and an outer aluminum oxide layer, the central core has a diameter of 10 nm -10 μm. The present invention deposits metal oxide on carbon powders having high specific surface area using atomic layer deposition, and the mass ratio of the metal oxide having thin/high specific surface area carbon is 70% to 90%. The present invention also provides a method of preparing the carbon/metal oxide composite electrode material having high specific surface area by atomic layer deposition, and a method of preparing electrode using the carbon/metal oxide composite electrode material having high specific surface area. The carbon/metal oxide composite electrode material having high specific surface area of the present invention has a feature of high mass ratio, and the lithium ion battery prepared from the electrode material has high cycle life and high capacity stability.
