According to a disclosed multi-energy X-ray imaging device and a method for controlling the multi-energy X-ray imaging device, the multi-energy X-ray imaging device comprises: an X-ray generation and irradiation member for generating generated multi-energy X-rays and irradiating, among the generated X-rays which are generated, a predetermined X-ray having a specific energy; an X-ray detection member for detecting a subject-transmitting X-ray which is generated after the X-ray having a specific energy is transmitted through a subject; and a control member for controlling the X-ray generation and irradiation member so that the generated multi-energy X-rays are generated and the X-ray having a specific energy is irradiated, and for enabling an image to be formed. Thus, from the one X-ray generation and irradiation member, the generated multi-energy X-rays are generated, and the X-ray having a specific energy is stably irradiated, and thus an advantage is achieved whereby an accurate image for each part of the subject is acquired, and a correlation with tissues constituting the inside of the subject may be checked.
