The present invention provides methods and compositions for reducing the risk of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular or neovascular adverse events. In general, the invention includes administering a therapeutically effective amount of a misoprostol compound to a subject taking the NSAID. The present invention may also include administering a therapeutically effective amount of an NSAID and a therapeutically effective amount of a misoprostol compound to a subject in need thereof.
