According to the present invention, disclosed are a social network system and method for providing regional information according to location information and user roles, wherein the system and method are capable of providing regional information about news, education, reading, tourism, restaurants, events (festivals), and lodging (accommodations) of a corresponding region on the basis of a corresponding regional SNS based on location information of a located region or according to the roles of a user. A disclosed server for providing regional information comprises: a regional selection unit for obtaining a location by selecting a region from which regional information is desired to be obtained; an information selection unit for selecting information desired to be obtained from the regional information; a regional information collection unit for collecting regional information corresponding to a type of the information desired to be obtained on the basis of a social network service (SNS) of the selected region; a regional information providing unit for providing the collected regional information through a webpage by a voice or a screen; a regional information database for matching and storing the collected regional information with user information; and a control unit for controlling a user to collect information of a region desired to be obtained by a user on the basis of SNS of the selected region and to provide the information to a user terminal. According to the present invention, regional information can be easily provided on the basis of a social network service.
