Methods of treating or preventing preeclampsia or eclampsia by administering adherent epileptic cells are described. Adherent epilepsy cells may originate from bone marrow, placenta or adipose tissue. Articles of manufacture comprising the use of adherent epileptic cells for the manufacture of a medicament for use in the treatment or prevention of preeclampsia or eclampsia, and packaging materials comprising labels therefor are also described.
