The present invention provides a method for hydroprocessing hydrocarbons comprising two or more catalyst beds arranged in sequence, wherein the catalyst volume increases in each subsequent catalyst bed. The process operates as a liquid-full process, wherein all of the hydrogen is dissolved in the liquid phase. Hydrocarbons can be converted in the process to provide a liquid product containing a variety of desirable properties, such as a clean fuel having a low density and a high cetane number.
