The present invention provides a method of treating at least one premature birth complication in a premature infant, comprising administering cord blood stem cells and optionally placental stem cells to the premature infant. The present invention also provides a method for combining and administering umbilical cord blood stem cells for the treatment of premature babies, in particular, self-derived umbilical cord blood cells and placental stem cells, and a composition comprising the same.
