The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating stress comprising a Mentha arvensis extract fermented by lactic acid bacteria, and a preparation method thereof. In an embodiment, to prepare a Mentha arvensis extract, 600 mL of water is added to 30 g of Mentha arvensis powder, and a mixture is stirred at the temperature of 100°C for 9 hours to be extracted, the extract obtained by repeating the above mentioned method twice is filtered by using filtering paper (ADVANTEC No. 2, Adventec Toyo Kaisha, Tokyo, Japan), and the filtered extract is decompressed and concentrated in a rotary evaporator (EYELA, N-N series, Tokyo, Japan) and then freeze-dried. To prepare Mentha arvensis fermented material, a Mentha arvensis extract is adjusted to have 10 brix, sterilized at the temperature of 121°C for 15 minutes, inoculated with 5% of L3, L54, L120-mixed strains (1:1:1, 1.0^6CFU/ml), and fermented at the temperature of 37°C for 48 hours. After fermentation, a supernatant is recollected through centrifugation (VS-5000N, VISION SCIENCE Co., STD., Korea) under the conditions of 10,000 rpm, 5 minutes, and the temperature of 4°C, the Mentha arvensis extract is sterilized at the temperature of 121°C for 15 minutes, freeze-dried, and stored in a freezer to use.
