Novel lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus rhamnosus CKDB009 strains, have the effects of reducing cholesterol in the body and suppressing obesity. More specifically, the Lactobacillus rhamnosus CKDB009 strains have the basic properties as probiotics including acid and bile resistance and do not produce harmful enzymes in the intestines such as ureases and gelatinases for preventing hemolysis, and ensure excellent safety in an intestinal environment. Particularly, the Lactobacillus rhamnosus CKDB009 strains have excellent acid resistance and reduction abilities, do not have cytotoxicity, and suppress the differentiation of 3T3-L1, a lipogenic precursor cell, to suppress the expression of one or more obesity-related biochemical markers selected from a group including the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-(PPAR) and adipocyte binding protein (aP2). The Lactobacillus rhamnosus CKDB009 strains also reduce the fat cell size by lowering the bodys blood cholesterol level and suppressing the lipid production in white adipocytes to effectively contribute to reduction of blood cholesterol levels and alleviation of obesity symptoms such as lowering the body mass index (BMI). Accordingly, the Lactobacillus rhamnosus CKDB009 strains and a composition including the same can be industrially utilized as a functional food product for anti-obesity and blood cholesterol reducing effects.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
