The present invention relates to an augmented reality (AR)-based arithmetic operation learning system using an arithmetic operation play card and an AR system, which is capable of stimulating five sense and attracting interest of a user, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the AR-based arithmetic operation learning system comprises a portable terminal and a marker card having one or more AR markers printed thereon. The portable terminal comprises: a camera identifying the AR marker; a touch screen displaying the identified AR marker; an arithmetic operation problem content database storing arithmetic operation problems corresponding to each AR maker, wherein the arithmetic operation problem is formed with a plurality of selection sheets, one of the selection sheet is a correct answer sheet, and the remaining sheets are an incorrect answer sheet; an arithmetic operation problem providing module extracting an arithmetic operation problem corresponding to the AR maker identified by the camera from the arithmetic operation problem content database to display the extracted problem on the touch screen; and a correct/incorrect answer checking module determining whether the selection sheet is the correct answer sheet to display a correct/incorrect answer determination result on the touch screen when one of a plurality of arithmetic operation problem selection sheets disposed on the touch screen is touched by a user.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
