The present invention relates to a memory system comprising: a memory core including a plurality of memory cells; an on-chip processor conducting processing-in-memory (PIM); and a memory security controller. The memory security controller provides decoded data to the on-chip processor by decoding encoded data provided from an external memory controller or the memory core, re-encodes the result data from the on-chip process, and provides the re-encoded data to the memory controller or the memory core. Therefore, the memory system can maintain security of important data and can improve data processing efficiency by decoding encoded data inside a semiconductor memory device and conducting PIM.
