The present invention relates to a method for Pd-catalyzed hydroxycarbonylation of diisobutene (DIBN): 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid/H_2O ratio. The present invention is to provide an excellent conversion ratio in Pd-catalyzed hydroxycarbonylation of DIBN. The method comprises the following steps of: a) adding DIBN; b) adding a compound including Pd which can form a complex; c) adding a ligand L1; d) adding 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid and water so that a ratio based on the volume used is in the range of 0.75/1.25 to 1.8/0.2; e) supplying CO; and f) heating the reactive mixture and converting DIBN into a compound P1.
