Described herein are methods comprising minimizing or eliminating the occurrence of delayed negative effects that may be caused by exposure to reduced oxygen partial pressure. The amount of supplemental oxygen substantially following the target oxygen partial pressure is administered to passengers exposed to the reduced oxygen partial pressure environment to compensate for the reduced oxygen partial pressure. The target oxygen partial pressure may be selected so that an individual does not experience a substantial change in oxygen partial pressure. Passengers receiving supplemental oxygen may be healthy, have special sensitivity, or have existing neurological symptoms.
