The adapter is placed on a mobile computing device to provide exemplary methods of measuring test strips coupled to the adapter with a screen and a camera on one side of the mobile computing device. These methods may include displaying a light region on the first portion of the screen. The first portion may be adjacent to the camera. The light area and the camera can be aligned to the key area of the test strip so that the camera captures an image of the key area. These methods may further include providing first user guide information for positioning the adapter in the mobile computing device in accordance with the location of the light area on the screen.
