Exemplary methods are provided for placing the adapter on a mobile computing device and measuring a test strip coupled to the adapter with a camera and a screen on one side of the mobile computing device. These methods may include displaying a light region on a first portion of the screen. The first portion may be adjacent to the camera. The light area and camera may be aligned to the key area of the test strip so that the camera captures an image of the key area. These methods may further include providing first guide information for the user to position the adapter on the mobile computing device according to the location of the light area on the screen.
