Provided is a method for detecting whether a MSP-based wearable device is worn. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a wearable device comprises: an MSP sensor for irradiating light to a body of a user with a plurality of light emitting elements and receiving the light reflected from the body with a plurality of light receiving elements; and a processor for determining whether the wearable device is worn based on a light pattern received from the MSP sensor. As a result, the method may detect whether the wearable device is worn in addition to the authentication using the pre-applied MSP sensor without adding a sensor.
