According to an embodiment, a method for controlling an electro-mechanical brake provided in a driving device with an apparatus for controlling an electro-mechanical brake comprises the following steps of: receiving a sensing value from a sensor unit including a plurality of heterogeneous sensors provided in the driving device, using a defect classification model that learns defect information of the sensor unit according to sensing values of the sensor unit based on deep learning, and estimating defect information indicating whether a defect is generated in any one of the sensors to be detected for at least a portion of the heterogeneous sensors from combination of the received sensing values; and controlling a brake unit based on the sensing values of the sensor unit and the defect information estimated by a defect detection unit by a brake control unit.
