The present invention discloses a composition for anti-allergy using 5-hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyphthalide and a composition for ameliorating atopic dermatitis, which is isolated from P. falciparum extract. The 5-hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyphthalide has inhibitory activity on degranulation when treated with an adipose cell line RBL-2H3 (rat basophilic leukemia) activated with gE and antigen (DNP-BSA) The SCORAD index is significantly lowered in clinical trials in patients.
