According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is a method for controlling a monitoring device including a plurality of light emitting units (sources) and light receiving units (detectors). The method for controlling a monitoring device including a plurality of sources and detectors comprises the following steps: causing the plurality of sources to sequentially generate an optical signal in a mutually exclusive way according to a time division manner; and dynamically controlling a measurement circuit gain used by an n-th detector to detect the optical signal generated by an m-th source, with reference to a distance between the m-th source which generates the optical signal to be measured among the plurality of sources and the n-th detector which detects the optical signal to be measured among the plurality of detector.
