TROPONIN AND BNP BASED DIAGNOSIS OF RISK PATIENTS AND CAUSE OF STROKE

The present invention relates to a method for early distinguishing whether a subject suffers from cardiac stromal or non-cardiac ischemic stroke. The method is based on the determination of the amount of cardiac troponin in a sample derived from a subject suffering from ischemic stroke obtained within 24 hours after symptom onset of ischemic stroke. The invention further relates to kits and apparatus adapted for carrying out the method of the present invention.
