A receiving device, method, computer program and information providing device for providing one or more alert services are disclosed. The receiving device includes a receiver, a display interface, an input unit and a processor. The receiver receives a notification of the alert service. The display interface shows a notification of the alert service on the display. The input unit also receives a request for subscribing to the alert service from the user of the receiving device. In response to receiving the subscription request, the processor registers in memory the location of the new content information associated with the alert service. The processor also accesses the identified source of new content information and uses it to determine whether new content corresponding to the alert service is available. If new content is determined to be available, the processor downloads the new content and causes the display interface to present a pop-up alert based on the new content.
