Disclosed are an apparatus for evaluating safety of a bridge and a method thereof. The apparatus for evaluating safety of a bridge comprises: an interface unit interlocking with a safety evaluation request of a bridge, searching for an observation station positioned within a set range based on the position of the bridge, and obtaining measured earthquake acceleration maintained in correspondence with the searched observation station from a database; and a processor calculating calculated earthquake acceleration on the bridge based on a distance between the bridge and the observation station and the measured earthquake acceleration and evaluating the safety of the bridge using the calculated earthquake acceleration.
