Electrochemical fatigue sensor finds growing cracks on steel bridges The Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) is a nondestructive crack inspection technology developed by Material Technologies Inc., Los Angeles, Calif. EFS can determine if actively growing fatigue cracks are present. The EFS system consists of a differential EFS sensor array, data collection hardware and software, and data interpretation software. The differential sensor array consists of two individual EFS sensors, the measurement sensor and the reference sensor.
