The present invention relates to a surface for a 3D display and a pin art type 3D display having the same. The pin art type 3D display comprises: a surface including a plurality of panels formed in an array and configured to form a display surface of the 3D display, and a plurality of stretchable connection members configured to connect and fix the plurality of panels longitudinally and transversely; and a plurality of actuators configured to form a 3D curved surface with respect to the surface, wherein the plurality of panels are grouped into a predetermined number to form a plurality of panel group units, each of the panel group units is configured to form an operation unit of one linear actuator, and the panel group units connected to the stretchable connection members are moved by a motion of the linear actuator moved in forward and backward directions so that the surface is curved. According to the surface for a 3D display and the pin art type 3D display having the same of the present invention, it is possible to significantly reduce the number of actuators and manufacturing costs, and still, a smooth 3D curved surface can be implemented. It is also possible to individually control an individual pixel or a specific region of a display surface. Accordingly, in addition to simply utilizing the surface as a screen surface by projecting an image to the surface, the utilization scope of the surface can be further expanded as it is possible to actively control the individual pixel or the specific region of a display surface.
