Embodiments relate to a top and slope (TAS) feature extraction device for EMG signal analysis and a method thereof. The device comprises: an EMG signal acquisition unit for acquiring an EMG signal according to a gait cycle period from a lower body of a user who is walking; an EMG signal converting unit for converting the acquired EMG signal into an absolute value and normalizing the absolute value-converted signal; a first feature element determination unit for determining a first feature element by using the ratio of the time, at which the maximum value of the normalized EMG signal is located, to the gait cycle period; a second feature element determination unit for calculating a slope between a floor and a valley adjacent to each other in the normalized EMG signal, and adding the calculated slope to determine a second feature element; and a feature determining unit for determining a feature of the EMG signal acquired by adding the first feature element and the second feature element. Thus, high accuracy can be obtained compared to the conventional feature extraction algorithm.
