According to an embodiment, a method for detecting an abnormal item based on artificial intelligence includes the steps of: receiving an input image; reducing the dimension of information included in the input image to a latent space; increasing the separability of information dimensionally reduced to a latent space; and hierarchically determining whether an abnormal item exists in the input image and a type and a grade of the abnormal item, based on the information with increased separability.
