The present invention relates to a bar-type screen cage (1) having profiled screen bars or profile bars (2) spaced in the circumferential direction. A plurality of axially spaced supports 4 of the screen cage 1 are joined by welding to an external profile bar or screen bar 2. The axially spaced screen bars 2 form screen slots 3 therebetween. Each support 4 comprises at least two support wires 5 which are closely spaced in the axial direction of the screen bar and fixed to the screen bar 2 by resistance welding. The two support wires 5 and the profile bars 2 of each support 4 are fixedly connected to each other via an additional welding seam 6. A reinforcement ring 7 may preferably be provided on the outside of each support 4, which reinforces preferably with each support 4, the support wire 5 and the profile bar 2. Interact in a locking fashion. Where appropriate, the bar-type screen cage 1 may comprise a support casing (back-up casing) 10 externally.
