FIELD: biotechnology.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Invention is a method for testing potatoes grown in vitro for infection with plant material of planting material, consisting in production of protein lectin-containing plantain roots extract of Plantago major from homogenised flour of ground roots of 0.9 % sodium chloride solution by infusion during 24 hours in ratio 1:6, after which homogenate is centrifuged and brought to pH 4.0, centrifuged again and supernatant is neutralised to pH 7.0, the precipitate is removed by centrifugation, the protein is salted with 70 % ammonium sulphate, after which the raw crude lectin is collected on a filter and dissolved in distilled water, then virus concentrate is obtained from the planting material and the produced viruses are agglutinated with the protein lectin-containing Plantain major plantain major extract in concentration of 0.03 %, wherein if agglutination occurs, the planting material is not infected with viruses, and the absence of agglutination indicates that the planting material is infected with viruses.EFFECT: invention allows to accelerate the testing process of potato seed material.1 cl, 2 tbl
