FIELD: manufacturing technology.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to application of pyrocarbon coatings on cast ceramic molds for casting of titanium and other chemically active alloys. Method of application of pyro-carbon coating on cast ceramic molds includes thermal treatment by molding of mold with applied carbon-containing component. Carbon-containing component used is an aqueous suspension of disperse pyrocarbon, which is applied on the face layer of the mold by impregnation at the cooling step of the calcined form with subsequent removal of the excess suspension, and then calcining mold with pyro-carbon coating is applied at temperature of not more than 350 °C. At that temperature of casting mold and suspension at impregnation step does not exceed 100 °C, the pyrocarbon particle size is 0.100–2 mcm, and the pyrocarbon particles content in suspension is 1–6 wt%.;EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a stable, dense, uniformly distributed surface coating using a simple method, at a lower temperature with low labor and energy costs.;1 cl, 2 tbl, 11 ex
