A method is proposed for transmitting sensor data from a sensor to a computer system, comprising the steps of a) transmitting an ultrasonic burst and b) receiving an ultrasound signal and forming a time-discrete receive signal consisting of a sequence of samples. Each sample is assigned a time date (time stamp). The method comprises c) the determination of at least two parameter signals in each case concerning the presence of a respective signal basic object assigned to the respective parameter signal with the aid of at least one filter from the sequence of sample values of the received signal. The parameter signals are designed as a time-discrete sequence of respective parameter signal values. Each parameter signal value is assigned exactly one temporal date. The first parameter signal and the other parameter signals together are also referred to as a feature vector signal. The feature vector signal is thus designed as a time-discrete sequence of feature vector signal values, which consist of the parameter signal values and further parameter signal values, each having the same time date (time stamp). Each feature vector signal value thus formed is assigned this respective temporal date (time stamp). The method comprises d) evaluating the time profile of the feature vector signal and closing on a signal object, which consists of a chronological sequence of signal basic objects and to which a symbol is assigned, with determination of an evaluation value (distance) with a time profile. Further, the method e) comprises comparing the evaluation value of a temporal datum (time stamp) with a threshold vector to form a Boolean result, which may have a first and a second value, and f) transmitting the symbol of the signal object and the temporal associated therewith Date (time stamp) from the sensor to the computer system when the Boolean result for that time date has the first value.
