There is provided a selection aid system and a selection assistance method that enable a more appropriate measure to be taken regarding the temperatures of an engine and a motor drive device. The selection help system 1 selects components that constitute a machine tool that includes a drive system including a motor and a motor drive device for driving and controlling the machine tool, and a housing member configured to receive at least a portion of the drive system. The selection help system 1 includes an information acquisition unit 14 configured to receive operation information for operating the machine tool, machine information on a configuration of the machine tool and housing element information about the housing member, and a calculation unit 11. The calculation unit 11 has a temperature estimation unit 112 that has so is configured to estimate a temperature inside the case member based on the operation information, machine information, and case information received from the information receiving unit 14.
