A system for providing block-chain-based identity verification of individuals, the system comprising: one or more computer-readable storage media configured to store a block string; a computer system comprising one or more processors programmed to execute computer program instructions that then, when executed, causing the computer system to: assign a verification address associated with the block chain to an individual, the individual having a previously verified personal identity; storing in the one or more computer-readable storage media of an identifier of the individual and unique data relating to the individual in association with the verification address associated with the block string, and wherein the unique data relates to the individual's biometric data and the verification address is private and public keys; obtaining from a client-side device the identifier and the unique data in conjunction with a request to verify the identity of the individual, the request indicating the verification address associated with the block string; obtaining the stored identifier and the stored unique data using the verification address specified in the request; andverifying the identity of the individual in response to a determination that the identifier of the request and the unique data of the request match the stored identifier and the stored unique data.
