A regulation voltage (Vreg) is determined, replacing the voltage setpoint (Vcons) in force, the regulation voltage (Vreg) being determined as the lowest value between the voltage setpoint (Vcons) in force and a voltage setpoint limit (Vconsl), the voltage set point limit (Vconsl) being indirectly calculated according to a current (N) of the alternator, an ambient temperature (T) in force and a voltage (V) in force at the terminals of the alternator.
