The present invention relates to the field of methods for analyzing the quality of a water. In particular, the present invention relates to a method of developing a classification for prioritizing more finely the level of pollution of an aquatic environment (station), and includes: - the measurement of a pollution level for different stations to from a gammar population (obtaining a set of data xi); comparing the data xi with a reference threshold value x0 leading to a set of sorted data xi; and a mathematical treatment leading to obtaining a classification of n classes, where n represents a positive integer.
