The baffle 100 comprises a structural frame 101, a sound dampening outer layer 102 disposed around at least a portion of the frame, and at least one light source 110 disposed on the frame, the light source being directionally switchable so that light emanating from the baffle points upwards, downwards, or both. The light source may include a diffuser 111. The baffle may be beam shaped. Electrical 106 or mechanical 103, 104 linkages may link a plurality of baffles. The directionality of the light source may be switched using a controller. Two baffles may be linked by a snap-fit linear conduit and magnets 105. The sound dampening layer may comprise felted polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibres. Also claimed is a light fixture comprising an interior frame, a hanging apparatus connected to the frame, an external sound dampening layer wrapped around at least a portion of the frame, one or more lights mounted on the frame programmable to cast light in a variety of directions, and a controller electrically coupled to the lights for directing the light in one or more specified directions. The light source may comprise LED strips. The light fixture may be attached to a ceiling.
