Technology for assessing and presenting field device commissioning information associated with a process plant

A method 500 of accessing commissioning data associated with a set of devices in a process plant comprises obtaining, at a computing device for each of the set of devices, commissioning status data (such as the current configuration) for the respective device 510; accessing a set of defined commissioning parameters (such as a desired configuration) respectively associated with the set of devices 515; determining, by the computing device for each of the set of devices, a difference between the respective commissioning status data and the respective defined commissioning parameter 520; and causing a user interface to indicate the set of differences between the set of commissioning status data and the set of defined commissioning parameters 525. The method may be preceded by a user request for commissioning status data via a user interface 505, and may enable a user to input an update to the commissioning status data for at least one of the process control devices 530. The user interface may indicate (such as by grouping) which of the devices conform to the commissioning parameters, and which do not conform to the commissioning parameters (i.e. those devices which exhibit a difference).
