An aerofoil (300) comprising first and second tubular CMC cores (302, 303) extending along a longitudinal axis of the aerofoil and an outer CMC layer (304) surrounding the cores and defining the outer aerofoil shape having leading and trailing (305) edges, wherein the fibres within the wall of the second CMC core extend to the trailing edge of the aerofoil. The aerofoil may comprise a plurality ofcooling passages connecting the inner volume of the second core with an external surface of the aerofoil. The passages may be defined by corrugations of the second tubular core. The aerofoil may comprise an insert between the adjacent facing portions of the inner surface of the second core, the air passages may be defined by passages therein. The insert may comprise ceramic foam which may be opened celled. Also included is a method of manufacturing such an aerofoil comprising forming the CMC cores, forming an outer CMC layer around the cores with fibres from the second core reaching the trailing edge of the formation thus formed before consolidating the layers to form the aerofoil.
