A wetsuit (201) comprising: a top portion (203), a middle portion (205) and a bottom portion (207), wherein the top portion (203) terminates at one end in a collar (213) which extends around the neck of the wearer and terminates at the other end at the middle portion (205) and the bottom portion (207) includes a waist portion (215) that extends around the waist of a wearer, leg portion (217) that extend down the legs of the wearer, and a crotch portion (219); a first buoyancy enhancer (225) provided on the front of the wetsuit in the form of a strip which extends along the central longitudinal axis of the wearer from the collar (213) to the crotch portion (219); and a second buoyancy enhancer (227) provided on the back of the wetsuit (201) in the form of a strip which extends along the central longitudinal axis of the wearer from an intersection between the top portion (203) and middle portion (205), to the bottom portion (207), wherein the first buoyancy enhancer (227) has a width within the range of about 2.54 cm to about 17.78 cm and the second buoyancy enhancer (227) has a width within the range of about 2.54 cm to about 17.78 cm.
