PLANT HAVING IT KIOSKS, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAID PLANT

The IT kiosk system consists of a plant having a multiplicity of IT kiosks (1), set up locally in a territory, in the form of shelves each having a plurality of compartments with closeable doors, wherein each individual compartment has a mains power connection, and has a wireless or wire-based interface to the Internet. The closeable shelf doors are each provided with a lock having an access code or key for selected users. The compartments can be used to store information technology hardware devices prepared with a basic installation. Further, the plant includes a service centre (9) acting remotely from the IT kiosks (1) and having a multiplicity of IT specialists with their computer workstations, access to every single IT hardware device in the various lockers of the various IT kiosks (1) being ensured from said service centre (9) via the Internet. If required, a single selected hardware device on such a shelf is preparable using any operating system and any software of another device after the address thereof is made known to the service centre (9). To this end, said new device prepared with a basic installation is provided by means of the allocation of software packages. Thereafter, it is operational and can be substituted for the faulty device and removed from the IT kiosk (1), and the user can continue to work with it seamlessly.
