The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for providing an adaptive dialog system. In this case, an automatic detection of at least one dialog segment of a dialogue participant communicating with the dialog system takes place. There is an automatic comparison of the captured dialogue segment with dialog segments of a stored dialog segment model. After comparing, at least one corresponding dialog segment is automatically assigned to the captured dialog segment according to the dialog segment model if the captured dialog segment is included in the dialog segment model, or the acquired dialog segment is automatically added to a dialog segment group if the captured dialog segment is not included in the dialog segment model is. A dialog segment is generated depending on the dialog segments of the dialog segment group and the generated dialog segment is saved in the dialog segment model.
