PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of tea by increasing the amount of chlorophylls, which are pigments, by shading the tea garden for a certain period before plucking. Moreover, not only the color of brown becomes dark green, but also the taste increases. However, there are disadvantages such as growth being suppressed by shading and reduction of epigallocatechin which is a functional component. That is, it provides a cultivation method capable of promoting both the quality improvement and the yield increase of tea leaves. SOLUTION: By giving light of which wavelength is controlled to tea, it is possible to increase chlorophyll and improve color while maintaining the yield. In addition, it is a method of cultivating tea that increases functional components such as epigallocatechin. Further, by giving a large amount of red light, it is possible to cultivate a tea in which the growth of sprouts is improved, the green color is vivid, and the functional component rich in epigallocatechin is characteristic.
