To provide a method of culturing a group of acid-tolerant nitrifying bacteria having nitrification activity at pH 3 to 6, and also to provide a nitrification apparatus and method using the acid-tolerant nitrifying bacteria group.SOLUTION: Described herein is a method of culturing an acid-tolerant nitrifying bacteria group, comprising: an enrichment culture step of culturing nitrifying bacteria to 10cells/mL-carrier or more in an atmosphere having a pH of 7 or more and 8 or less and in the presence of a carrier such that the nitrifying bacteria are attached to the carrier and proliferated to form an immobilized carrier; and an acclimation step of acclimating, in an atmosphere having a pH of 3 or more and 6 or less, acid-tolerant nitrifying bacteria in the nitrifying bacteria that have attached to the immobilized carrier and proliferated. Also described herein are a nitrification apparatus and method using a group of the cultured acid-tolerant nitrifying bacteria.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
