PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for biosynthesis of a novel hydroxybenzoic acid derivative obtained by switching the metabolic flow of a metabolic intermediate produced in cultured cells of a plant tissue as a substrate. SOLUTION: The medium is a metabolic intermediate of a secondary metabolite produced by a cultured cell derived from a bamboo plant as a substrate, and is obtained by an introduced foreign secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene.
