Multiple cell-based systems can be interconnected in reconfigurable forms to support missions. For example, a relatively large size space system can be assembled using a collection of individual "cells" that are individual spacecraft. The cells can be held together via magnets, electromagnets, mechanical interconnects, and the like. The topology or shape of the merged cells can be modified by hopping, rotating, or "rolling" the cells along the merged aggregate. A cell is a multifunctional and mass-producible unit. Rotation of the cell plane or components within the cell can change the functionality of the cell. The cell can be folded for loading or during launch.
