PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing iron and aluminum and a method for recovering valuable metals capable of efficiently suppressing coprecipitation of other metals from a post-exudation liquid obtained by exudation of a lithium ion battery scrap.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for removing iron and aluminum from a lithium ion battery scrap containing cobalt and/or nickel and iron and aluminum, including an exudation process for acid exuding the lithium ion battery scrap to obtain a post exudation liquid, a first removal process for maintaining reduction atmosphere where a cobalt component and/or a nickel component are not oxidized and adjusting pH of the post exudation liquid to 4.0 to 6.0 to precipitate a part of the aluminum component in the post exudation liquid and remove the same by solid solution separation and a second removal process for adding an oxidant to a post separation liquid obtained in the first removal process and precipitating an iron component and remaining aluminum component in the post separation component, adjusting pH of the post separation liquid after completion of precipitation to 4.0 to 6.0 and removing the same by solid solution separation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
