To provide an imaging unit which prevents image deterioration, is easily assembled and adjusted and enables reduction in strength thereof to be suppressed, and an oblique-viewing type or side-viewing type endoscope.SOLUTION: An imaging unit 100 in the present invention is used in an oblique-viewing type or side-viewing type endoscope, and includes an objective lens 11, a lens frame 12, an imaging device 20a, a cover glass 21 protecting the imaging device 20a, an FPC board 22 on which the imaging device 20a is mounted, a holding substrate 30 holding the FPC board 22, and a holding frame 40 having a fitting part 41 fitting and holding the lens frame 12 and a storage part 42 for storing the imaging device 20a or the like. The storage part 42 has a plurality of abutment surfaces, and the holding substrate 30 and the cover glass 21 are abutted on the abutment surfaces.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
